Three teenagers accused of breaking into Albany Cricket & Soccer Pavilion a second time and videoing it

Three teenagers have been charged for breaking into the Albany Cricket and Soccer Pavilion in the early hours of Thursday morning, allegedly videoing their antics, which are estimated to have caused up to $30,000 damage. Three teenagers aged 13, 14, and 15 were arrested on Friday and charged with aggravated burglary, criminal damage and stealing for their role in the break-ins. The 15-year-old — who has been charged with aggravated burglary and commit for both break-ins and criminal damage for the second — allegedly videoed Thursday’s incident on social media. The 13-year-old also faces two counts of aggravated burglary and commit as well as one count of stealing for the earlier break-in in which some alcohol was believed to have been taken. The 14-year-old is facing two charges related to the second break-in, including aggravated burglary and commit and criminal damage. The second break-in is alleged to have occurred between 12am and 6am on Thursday, November 9. Though nothing is believed to have been taken on Thursday, the culprits left extensive damage, smashing one window and two sliding doors, and covering the floors, walls, and kitchen equipment in fire extinguisher foam. The glass doors of a trophy cabinet were also smashed and trophies were broken while the glass window of an interior door was shattered. The damage for both incidents is estimated to cost between $25,000 and $30,000. City of Albany executive director of community services Nathan Watson was dismayed. “It is disappointing that the pavilion has been deliberately damaged again,” he said. “The City is working with community sporting groups to increase security around the precinct to prevent further vandalism.” Albany officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Carlos Correia said the investigation was ongoing and a fourth teenager is yet to be charged. The three teenagers are expected to face Albany Children’s Court on November 17. Sen.
