Albany and Districts, Great Southern and Upper Great Southern in multiple junior country week finals

Two Albany and Districts Cricket Association sides, one Great Southern Cricket Association outfit and two teams from Upper Great Southern Cricket Association are in junior country week grand finals on Friday. Albany and Districts made the finals of CSBP junior country week in Perth, reaching the showpiece matches in the under-14 and under-16 A-grade competition. After being winless for three years, the under-14s broke their duck to triumph in their first three matches and, after losing on Wednesday, romped back to form on Thursday with a demolition of Geraldton. Put in by Geraldton, Owen Pretorius retired unbeaten on 61 and Oskar McSweeney also headed to the pavilion after hitting 56no. Patrick House (36) and Beau Sobey (33) also made major contributions as ADCA reached 5-271. Ayrton Sedunary was in good form with the ball, taking 3-8 off four overs as Geraldton collapsed to 57 all out. They face Peel in the final. The under-16s reached the 2024 final and finished second in the ladder to Busselton-Margaret River after winning four of their five matches. The one they lost was is their final opponents — so they will be aiming for revenge. Upper Great Southern Cricket Association have reached two grand finals. Their under-14 B1 team won all their qualifying matches and will tackle West Pilbara for the right to be pool A champions. The Uppers C2 team won its semifinal against Northam on Thursday and play Wellington 14C Blue, conquerors of ADCA, in the final. The under-16 B side from the Great Southern tackles West Pilbara in the pool A grand final after topping the section in qualifying.
