Albany volleyballer Aaron Bailey was recognised for his efforts off the court when he was awarded one of Volleyball WA’s most prestigious awards on Saturday night.

Bailey, a former president of the Albany Volleyball Association and now a committee member, was awarded the Trevor Williams administrator of the year award at the Volleyball WA Volley Awards at Fraser’s Restaurant.

The award, recognising outstanding service, was presented to Bailey for his commitment to Volleyball WA, the AVA and the expansion of the sport in Albany.

Bailey edged out three other nominees to win the award.

In the beach volleyball awards, Albany’s Jason Pinner and Jamie Lee Molan were nominees for regional beach player of the year.

The duo finished equal third in round 7 of the WA Beach Volleyball Tour, held at Middleton Beach in March.

Former Albany player Cameron Dall and teammate Brett Lewington were named male beach team of the year.

Dall grew up playing volleyball in Albany before joining the State system with the WA Hornets.

The 2018-19 AVA beach volleyball season begins on November 1.

The six-week season will be held on Thursdays, from 4pm-5pm and Sundays from 9am-11am, at Middleton Beach. Registration is today at Middleton Beach, from 4pm- 5pm. Visit albanyvolleyball.com. au for more information.
