Action galore for Albany and Denmark bike riders
Cycling clubs in the Great Southern are on a roll, with the Albany Cycling Club and Albany Mountain Bike Club running a combined Gran Fondo event for members recently.
A total of 31 riders from the two clubs and some Denmark Mountain Bike Club riders took part in the traditional road riding event.
Dedicated mountain bikers like Jamie Scally were ecstatic.
“I really enjoyed it,” he said.
“It was fantastic to have an opportunity for riders across disciplines and with varying fitness levels participate in the one event.”
Meanwhile, in Denmark, the Denmark Mountain Bike Club hosted the annual Backyard Bust-Up jumps event generously hosted by the Ross family from Denmark.
The event has a number of dirt jumps and a kicker ramp to a massive air bag landing mat, which allows riders a soft landing in the event they do not execute their jump correctly.
DMBC president Nathan Davenport said it was a fantastic event. “The event is a real fun-filled highlight in their calendar,” he said.
“We were stoked to see the young boys and girls showing their ‘steeze-to-please’ (style).”
All three clubs are gaining strength and are providing greater opportunities for their members and the community.
The clubs welcome inquiries for new membership.
Contact can be initiated on their respective social media sites.
