ABA games abandoned

The Albany Basketball Association was forced to abandon round 3 A-grade competition games on Tuesday night after a power outage at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

ABA committee member Darren Berry said the association was still deciding on whether to reschedule the games. “We’re not 100 per cent certain what we’re doing just yet,” he said

“The committee met on Tuesday and we’re still deciding whether to try and reschedule for later in the year or to provide teams with a refund for the game.”

A decision is expected to be made in the coming week.

The power outage had an effect on more than 3000 Western Power customers in the Albany region and left ALAC without lighting from about 5pm.

Tigers and Knights were set to face off in an early season top-of-the-table clash in the men’s A-grade.

Meanwhile, in the women’s competition Panthers were searching for their third straight win against Flames.
