Albany PCYC will again throw open its doors for the annual Free Community Christmas Luncheon on Monday.

For almost two decades, organisers Steve and Karen Marshall have ensured everybody in the community has a place to go on Christmas Day.

“When we first started the luncheon, it was just for the down and out, but now we know it’s important to provide something for people who are alone and lonely as well,” Mr Marshall said.

“It’s for people irrespective of their financial status, irrespective of what they are going through or status is.”

About 600 people are expected to enjoy the buffet-style spread with donations from various sources ensuring there will be a seat at the table for anyone who wants one.

Santa will also present gift packs to children under the age of 12.

Attendees can simply show up on the day, with food served from midday.

“We’d like people to register so we have an idea of numbers, but they don’t need to,” Mr Marshall said.

“There will be a seat at the table for everyone and we’ll never say no because we never have.”

He said the luncheon had become one of the biggest of its kind in WA with people travelling from across the State to attend.

“There is a couple specifically coming down from Perth because they were here last year on holidays and loved it so much that they wanted to come back this year,” he said.

Mr Marshall also said he would welcome donations and volunteers. To register, contact Mr Marshall on 0412 850 105.
