A milestone year all round at Bethel Christian School as first Year 12 class graduates

The first Year 12 class to graduate from the Bethel Christian School have shown the way forward in a year like no other.

The challenge of being the school’s first Year 12 group was ramped up by the COVID-19 crisis.

On Friday, the students, their families and the staff came together to celebrate a big milestone.

The Class of 2020 had 22 students who completed ATAR, general or vocational courses. They had been the oldest students at the school for two years, after Year 11 was introduced in 2019.

“In the past, our students would move to Albany Senior High School or North Albany Senior High School, and we had very good relationships with these schools,” Principal Mim Butler said.

“In adding Year 11 and 12, our students could remain with us.

“Our aim was to provide each student with an individualised pathway to get them to their desired goal.” Ms Butler said she was pleased with the way the school had managed to minimise disruptions for Year 12 students during COVID-19 restrictions.

“The school had everyone online within two days, and teachers worked tirelessly to ensure that the Year 12s weren’t disadvantaged,” she said.

“As a school, it has been our aim to provide everything they need to succeed.”

Bethel Christian School will be celebrating its 40th anniversary next year.
