Nominations closed this week for the UDIA WA 2022 Awards for Excellence. The winners will be announced in September and, over the coming weeks, our esteemed judges will travel around Perth and the Peel region visiting the array of fantastic projects that are vying for one of the most prestigious accolades in the property industry.

From townhouses in inner-city locations to greenfield residential projects, the diversity of entrants reflects the growing diversity of housing choices in the market that buyers can choose from.

Given the amount of choice available to buyers, the award nominees this year, along with winners and finalists in previous years, provide a great starting point for where to look for the right home for your household.

The award categories span a range of projects, from best masterplanned community through to excellence in urban renewal and social infrastructure. The program also recognises projects with significant environmental achievements, as well as projects that focus on affordability and, importantly, seniors living.

As an industry, we are always looking at the next step and how we can deliver even better places and spaces that our communities want and need for the future.

There is no shortage of passion and dedication in the urban development industry and the awards are a chance to find out in more detail about the new ways developers and their consultants are approaching the design and execution of our new communities, buildings and urban spaces.

With household sizes getting smaller and people’s lifestyles and expectations changing, it is up to developers and their planners, designers, engineers and other consultants to ensure they are keeping up with what buyers and residents want. The winners from our state awards also have the opportunity to nominate for the national awards.

Western Australia has a fantastic track record at a national level, with Hesperia winning the Environmental Excellence Award at the national 2022 UDIA Awards for Excellence earlier this year for Roe Highway Logistics Park and Giorgi winning the Medium Density Development Award for Echelon in South Perth in 2020.

Success in the UDIA Awards for Excellence is a great way for consumers to pinpoint quality developments that are going above and beyond when it comes to delivering great places to live, work and play.

I encourage potential buyers to check out previous award-winners and finalists.
