Rich in character, this heritage gem remains true to its vintage roots and takes you back in time to the 20th century.

Known as Nyanya, this five-bedroom, three-bathroom property sits pretty on 4810sqm, surrounded by rolling green valleys and stunning native bushland.

The Agency Perth Property Partner Patrick Harper said the property earned its namesake after the Nyaania Creek that meandered through the property.

“The property was built in the 1920s when the land was twice the size,” he said.

“The top of the house once featured an enclosed rooftop garden and you can see from the old photos where they’ve built the patio.”

Over the years, the landmark Darlington property has undergone various renovations while maintaining its historic elegance.

“The current owners have made a lot of modifications to the house – they bought the home 11 years ago and renovations were completed over the last five or six years,” Mr Harper said.

“It’s got a mixture of different themes that all work in unison, with Mediterranean, Spanish and Italian influences.

“The owners decided to keep the original stained glass windows, arches and beams throughout the home.”

Entering through the wrought iron gates of the property, you could be forgiven for forgetting you are in Darlington and not a picturesque vineyard in Italy.

Cascading vines and unique stonework greet you upon arrival, with an overall resort feel.

“The stone used throughout the home is local from the quarry,” Mr Harper said.

Inside the home, the Mediterranean influence permeates through its ornate archways, window grilles and decorative elements.

The open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge is sure to be a hit among the household with breathtaking views of the vista beyond.

Made for entertaining, the sea blue-tiled kitchen is the perfect place to kick off a sundowner before heading to the rustic outdoor kitchen and entertaining terrace.

“I love the outdoor entertaining terrace with the winding ivy,” Mr Harper said.

“Being able to look over the valley where you can watch the creek flow across the heritage trail is quite special.”

On warmer days, make the most of the sparkling below-ground pool lined with original stone.

Inside, each living space is bright and airy, with stained glass windows adding a touch of history.

Ideal for when the extended relatives come to stay, a guest wing resides on the ground floor, along with a theatre and a sunroom that invites a gentle evening breeze.

The remaining bedrooms can be found upstairs with a handy kids’ retreat wedged between the minor and master bedrooms.

Retiring to the master bedroom at the end of the day will be a simple pleasure, as a dressing room and spacious ensuite make it easy to unwind.

Bursting with additional extras such as a 100sqm powered shed, plenty of storage and heaps of parking space, the property reveals grandeur at every corner.

“If you’re into your walking and heritage trails, this is the place to be – Darlington is also very community-based,” Mr Harper said.

“It’s a hills escape only 30 minutes from the city.”
