With a stunning balance between dark and neutral tones, this Atrium Homes custom build in Como exemplifies what modern living is about.

Light, airy and free-flowing, the sense of space is evident as soon as you set foot inside, with a void reaching up to the top floor and a glass balustrade along the staircase creating an illusion of floating on air.

Bolstered by monochromatic colours and materials, higher-than-standard internal doorframes and stacking doors, along with modern square-edged profiles, Atrium Homes Sales and Marketing Director Daniel Marcolina said the style of the home was well established.

“The colour scheme, albeit contemporary, exudes a natural, warm and inviting glow which you would expect in any family home,” he said.

Looking at the layout of the home, Mr Marcolina said the clients had the future in mind when it came to what they wanted in their new build.

“Our clients were looking for a low-maintenance home which would suit their growing family and lifestyle,” he said.

“Positioning the children’s rooms upstairs, along with the inclusion of a retreat and an additional bedroom, allowed the kids to have their own area to entertain family and close friends, as well as accommodating them if they were to stay for an extended period of time.

“Although they are located on the upper floor, they are still close by to the master bedroom positioned directly under.”

The parents’ retreat is a minimalist’s haven – a spacious carpeted bedroom with black window shutters drawing the eye, a walk-in robe with ample drawers to stow your belongings and an ensuite with his and her double vanities and matte black tapware juxtaposed against crisp white walls.

The site the home was built on tells a part of its story, according to Mr Marcolina, with its natural contours used to create a feature ceiling height to the rear living area.

“Not only is this in itself a feature, but it allowed us to incorporate highlight windows above the alfresco roof frame to capture additional natural light into the family, meals and kitchen area,” he said.

Seamlessly flowing across an open-plan layout boasting large tiles and defined, bold lines encapsulated by the window and sliding door frames, the shared living zone is striking and contemporary.

Offering plenty of streamlined appliances, the kitchen boasts a sleek look through its cabinetry, benchtops and a glass splashback which allows natural light to flow through yet another avenue.

Large glass doors grant you access out into the expansive alfresco area that has all you need for summer entertaining, with ceiling fans to keep you cool and an outdoor kitchen to keep your appetite satiated.

A few steps away is a sparkling swimming pool with glass fencing to ensure safety is at the fore without disrupting the tranquil view.

When night falls and it is time to take the entertaining inside, the home theatre features recessed ceilings and a built-in bar.
