With rolling green forests and a sunny coastal aesthetic, the picturesque holiday destinations of Western Australia’s South West certainly look like they are worth a million bucks.

But according to a homebuilder with two decades of experience in the region, these pristine epicentres are actually a lot more affordable than you think.

Ventura Homes South West Sales Manager Jared Stone said increased land availability was having a significant impact in this space.

“With more land becoming available in idyllic suburbs like Port Geographe, Dunsborough Lakes and Busselton, locals can get into a home of their own in their dream suburb easier than they may think,” he said.

“Each of the suburbs listed have options for first homebuyers, and Ventura Homes South West has extensive experience building in these areas.”

Busselton and Dunsborough in particular have enjoyed positive gains in median home prices and population over the past 12 months, according to REIWA figures.

Busselton’s median home value shot up an impressive 28.8 per cent to $470,000, while further along the Cape Naturaliste ridge, Dunsborough recorded 9.8 per cent annual growth to a median of $670,000.

Mr Stone said with the local know-how of Ventura’s builders, people buying into these South West hubs were able to relish costs much cheaper than expected.

“We can assure our clients of fixed site works in a majority of our subdivisions, as we know the area so well,” he said.

“What is more is we have an array of house and land packages available to ensure every home design makes the most of the block.”

Mr Stone said there were a variety of affordable land estates for people looking to treat themselves to a life in the South West or a new getaway home.

He cited Dunsborough Lakes and The Cove as two places ripe for people looking for a permanent vacation spot, given the stunning coastal hiking trails, world-class beaches and added bonuses of nearby breweries, wineries and ice creameries.

Port Geographe was also flagged as an affordable option for seaside living for its proximity to the amenity-rich Busselton and beautiful surrounds.

“One of our favourite estates would have to be Newport Geographe, a unique coastal masterplanned community nestled between the Port Geographe Marina and Busselton CBD,” Mr Stone said.

“This is the perfect location to build a new coastal lifestyle on either absolute waterfront canal lots or traditional homesites just 700m to the sparkling waters of Geographe Bay.”

Additionally, Busselton – a two-time winner of Australia’s Top Tourism Town – was on Mr Stone’s list of down south favourites for its substantial beachside offering and ideal proximity to Bunbury, Margaret River and Dunsborough.

“The once sleepy seaside town has come a long way in recent years and there is plenty for locals to love,” Mr Stone said.

“The Busselton Margaret River Airport is now open and taking bookings for flights, meaning you don’t have to battle the Perth peak-hour as a part of your next footy weekend in Melbourne.

“Add to this a bunch of great schools, strong sports competitions and the emerging art scene, and we know there are plenty of reasons to love Busso.”
