House That! Co-owner of Perth’s 129-year-old menswear store Christian Tana sells Dalkeith home

Christian Tana’s home — like his 129-year-old menswear boutique — is a mix of modern fashion and yesteryear charm. Tana, who co-owns the city’s Parker & Co with his father Vic, has recently accepted an offer on his Dalkeith home. Built in the 1940s, it has high ceilings and sits on a quarter-acre block, surrounded by the exquisite homes of one of Perth’s oldest suburbs. But there are many facilities, like the pool, BBQ and pizza oven, LED lighting, butler’s pantry and the ILVE and Smeg appliances. Modern fashions also dominate the newly renovated fit-out, including Carrara marble benchtops, feature pendant lighting from the Montauk Lighting Co and travertine tiling. The mix of old and new seems to be a well-worn recipe for success in many industries. The listing throws into the spotlight the stark difference in price changes across the western suburbs, which are growing at wildly different speeds. Dalkeith’s property growth has been solid over the past year, at about 10 per cent. But it is behind neighbouring Nedlands, which has shot up 17.3 per cent, Claremont, which has jumped 16.5 per cent, and Peppermint Grove, which is up 21.9 per cent. Cottesloe, which was quick off the mark when the boom hit in 2020, has grown only 3.2 per cent over the past year, while Mosman Park is up 5.9 per cent.
