Britney Spears in rehab: Singer voluntarily admitted over substance abuse after DUI
Pop princess Britney Spears had reportedly checked herself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
The Baby One More Time singer has a long history with drugs and alcohol.
A source told TMZ that Spears checked in after she realised she had “hit rock bottom”.
A representative for Spears confirmed to US Weekly that the singer voluntarily admitted herself to a treatment facility, where she is understood to be participating in a 30-day program.
Reports from both outlets claim the admission may have to do with the singer’s Adderall use. Adderall is a stimulant that contains amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, commonly prescribed to treat ADHD.
Spears has a pending DUI charge after an incident in California in March.
A source told TMZ, “She knows strategically this will look good in front of the judge -- that she’s taking it seriously.”

There have been ongoing dears over Spears’ well being for some time, particularly relating to her social media posts, where she is often seen dancing on camera with objects.
Britney Spears arrested after DUI
It was claimed she was “driving erratically” before an hour‑long police pursuit that ended with the singer being taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
A 911 caller reportedly described her as “all over the road”, prompting officers to track her vehicle until she eventually stopped.
Police sources said Spears appeared “disoriented” when approached, and she was booked before being released.
Following the incident her team insisted the arrest was a wake-up call that would lead to “long overdue change” in her life.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” her representative told Us Weekly at the time.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for wellbeing.”
Spears shares sons Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
She will appear in court on May 4.
The DUI incident has sparked renewed concern among fans, especially as Spears - who has struggled with her mental health and was freed from the constraints of a lengthy conservatorship in 2021 - has been largely out of the public eye in recent months.
Her ex-husband Sam Asghari - who she married in 2022 and split 13 months later - has called for privacy for the pop star.
“When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that. I think that everyone deserves privacy. And I hope the press has learned from the past, that they give her the privacy that she needs,” he said.
